New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs
Website with Content Management System (CMS)
Industry: Civic Organization
The Objective: New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Club (NJSFWC) wanted to develop a content-managed (CMS) Website that would allow users from all the clubs to communicate with one another through the website.
Within just a few months, we needed to redesign and unveil the new Website at the organization’s 2009 Convention.
The First Step: NJSFWC employed HG Marketing to rebuild the website into a content-managed site with different levels of user access. As with most website projects, we started by reconfiguring the site map, which helped us organize the site content.
The Plan:When the site map was organized, we started to design the new look for the website. We wanted to give it a clean, fresh look that would be very different from the appearance of the old site.
Once a final design was selected, we began building the back end structure for the CMS. Since every club member was designated a certain level of access, user codes needed to be set up to restrict users from certain areas. The Board of NJSFWC wanted the members to have access to the materials on the website, but they didn’t want necessarily everyone to be able to create their own Web page on the site – a feature that would be built in for members that didn’t already have a Website or Web presence.
After the user codes were set up, we tested the site
rigorously to make sure that every access level had
the correct restricted use. NJSFWC also tested them
with their own usernames and passwords and gave us continued
feedback on the functionality of the site.
"The structure of the new NJSFWC Website improved communications
between the Federation and their membership. The features
we included for the members of NJSFWC allows them to
create a Web presence if one does not currently exist,
and to share their fundraising, community and meeting
events on the NJSFWC site. These features are especially
important to Clubs with small budgets and limited resources
for online promotion," Laura Powers, President of HG
Marketing Group said.
HG Marketing Group provided the federation with the following:
• Web design and layout
• Content-managed website
• Project management
• Programming
• User manual for the CMS
• Customer training / testing
The Results: We demonstrated the website at the 2009 Convention's
Lunch and Learn, where participants learned how to create
an account, add events and even create their own webpage
on the New Jersey State Federation website.
President Anne Redlus commented, “[Our new Website]
looks great! Thank you, HG Marketing Group, for all
the work that went into creating this site!”
